About Us
We provide 911 and Non-Emergent Care to the citizens of East Wharton County.
We also provide public service and education opportunities to anyone that needs
any type of emergency healthcare training.
The City of Wharton EMS is authorized by the Texas Department of State Health
Services as an EMS Provider with MICU capabilities. We currently have two EMS
units staffed with a minimum of one Paramedic which runs 24/7. During the
daytime hours, it is possible to have four units available with administration
staff and all-call access. The City of Wharton has four ambulances.
We offer a very aggressive protocol which allows our medics to provide the most
advanced and up to date care before a patient arrives at the Emergency Room.
The are a total of 8 Full Time Paramedics, including the Director of EMS and the
Supervisor. We also have over 25 part time EMT - EMT Paramedics.
We have a very good relationship with the local hospital, police and fire
services, along with DPS, Sheriff, and other Public Services in the area.
Our Medical Director is also the Medical Director for our Education Center
and is also the Medical Director for Wharton County Jr. College EMS Program.
